Your Lack of Fitness is Killing You

ree

Let me tell you a personal story...

6 months prior to my wedding, I decided I wanted to get serious about my fitness. I hired a fitness coach, dedicated myself to 5am workouts and gathered a small team of accountability partners to help me stay on track. Of course it was important for me to slay on my wedding day. I wanted to glow, feel sexy and energized for myself and future husband.

, there is a missing link in this entire variable. My goal was for short term-purposes; My wedding day. in that moment, I did not learn how to turn that short-term goal into a long-term value system. So after the wedding, I gave up. Life became routined, the glitz and glam of the wedding day disappeared and I settled back into my old behaviors.

How did this impact myself and my marriage you may ask:

1) Personal insecurities begin to set in which impacted us both mentally and emotionally.

2) Intimacy begins to shift.

3) I was exhausted when I came home which meant I had no energy to give to my husband or anything else for that matter

Now hear me out, we both fell into this trap which caused a trickle effect across the board.

Why am I telling you this? Because I don't want to see you in the same situation.

I want you to understand how important your health is for yourself and your family or family to be.

Here are a few ways to get started and stay the course.

1) Set long-term health goals that are attainable and know your why.

2) Post your health and fitness mantra up on a board and repeat it daily.

3) Begin to follow health experts, social media influencers and read articles that will begin to inspire you and activate you to change your health patterns.

I want to see us all thriving in our spiritual, mental, emotional and physical health. I want this to be part of your lifestyle so that when your future husband shows up, he knows what you value and you can be clear on what is important to you so that the same "trickle effect" I had doesn't happen to you.

Patrice Murphy is a health enthusiast who has always had a passion for fitness and nutrition. Recently, Patrice spoke on my Wifey Wednesday's and gave us these top 5 amazing tips!

1. Commitment to Self: You have been able to acknowledge that you need the help and that you want to see the change but you struggle to commit. Most reasons for the lack of commitment is due to outside factors such as: Work and Family life. Listen, we want you to be at your best so that your tank is full and your able to give the people most important to you the best of you.

2. Stop Putting Yourself Last: The Super Woman Syndrome needs to die today. you don't have to conquer it all by yourself.

3. Don't Wait for Trauma to be the Reason you Start: Sometimes, we wait until we have no choice to decide to work on our health. Rather due to the doctors orders, running with your children and realizing you have no energy to play with them, or seeing that your weight it impacting your ability to have children. We want to take proactive measures before life forces us to begin to care.

4. Start Small: don't make it bigger than it has to be. A simple walk around the neighborhood for 15 min is a win and motivator to get you going. don't underestimate the minor commitments to self. It can take you further then you realize.

5. Have a Vision: Be clear on what you want and why you want it. Be sure to have a mental long-term goal but actively begin with short-term actions.
